My dad wants to buy us tickets and go to the Grand Prix of Indianapolis next year (Indy car) with me, but I'd rather go to the USGP in Texas (F1),the Canadian GP, or the PPHIC. I need to figure out a way to convince him to go to an F1 race/Pikes Peak rather than the Indycar race (I don't follow indycar so I don't know what is happening in that series).

F1 cars sound terrible! Indycars sound much better and you will enjoy the racing much more. I was gonna go to the Indy GP this year, but it fell the weekend before finals. . . so I didn't go.

Ahh, that might be a problem for me next year then...

Indy might be a better deal because (haven't looked at the schedule yet) you might also get to watch TUDOR and the Continental Tire series races in the same weekend versus just a F1 race (and a bunch of rich Ferrari owners crashing).

I am going to try and go next year, and study way in advance. . . plus studying early is always good.

Heck, if TUDOR was there I would be much more interested.

Just say you're busy and you can't make it or something. There's going to be an IRL race about 15 min away from me next year, and I don't know if I can be bothered to go.

Who am I to pass up free tickets to a motorsports event though... I will go, I'd just rather see F1

Someone could give me free tickets to the opera, doesn't mean I want to go. I assume you'd be traveling to either event. USGP I wouldn't mind traveling to go see. Drive/fly to go see IRL? No way. Hell I'd rather go see nascar than IRL.
Now if it's a good opportunity to go on a trip with your dad, then sure.

I only live an hour north of the speedway, so yeah, that's why that race.

Is your dad a big Motorsports fan? If not, then go to the Indycar race. It is close to home, affordable and they have amazing access to the garage. Walk around the track. Also remember he will have a kid in school, so cost probably is important. Regardless of what people may think of the spec Indycar, they have some f the best racing going right now.
If your dad is already into racing, and money isn't a big deal, then the others are all a great time. F-1 races are huge fun because of the international crowds. F-1 is also an expensive ticket and there are hotel costs to be aware of.

I tell you what's happening in Indycar: Some damn good racing, that's what.

Pikes Peak offers a complete vacation environment. You could visit Rocky Mountain National Park, all the Speed Week festivities, and Colorado's beauty in general.

Honestly, the racing in IndyCar is much better than that of F1 right now. I follow TUSCAR/IndyCar/F1 all equally closely - and the best racing among the 3 is IndyCar. Aren't you somewhat local to Indy as it is? If that's the case, the tix are $25 a piece for GA - which is the only way to go. Do both.
